JAMB, heads of institutions to decide cut-off marks August 31

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and heads of tertiary institutions across the country will hold a policy meeting on August 31 where they will decide the minimum cut-off marks for 2021/2022 admissions. According to the board, decisions will be reached on new cut-off marks and other admission issues at the meeting which will be chaired by Education Minister Adamu Adamu.Last year, JAMB, in collaboration with vice chancellors of universities, Rectors of polytechnics and Provosts of colleges of education, pegged the minimum cut-off marks at 160 and above for admission into universities, 120 for polytechnics and 100 for colleges of education. JAMB announced this in its weekly bulletin released yesterday in Abuja by its Head of Media, Dr. Fabian Benjamin.It reads: “This (policy) meeting kick-starts the admission process into the nation’s tertiary institutions. It will discuss critical issues emanating from the presentation of the Registrar of the JAMB on the just-concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry applications, in addition to setting the tone for the 2021/2022 admission exercise.

FAAC shares N760.717bn for July 2021

The Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) on Friday shared a total of N760.717 billion for July 2021 to the federal, states and local governments. This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the virtual meeting of the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) for August 2021. The N760.717 billion total distributable revenue comprised distributable statutory revenue of N617.705 billion; distributable Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue of N140.555 billion and Exchange Gain of N2.457 billion. In July 2021, the sum of N63.501 billion was the total deductions for cost of collection, statutory transfers and refunds. The balance in the Excess Crude Account (ECA) was $60.855 million. The communiqué confirmed that from the total distributable revenue of N760.717 billion; the Federal Government received N321.226 billion, the State Governments received N222.514 billion, and the Local Government Councils received N166.562 billion.
